Thank you

Mrs Stanton and Mrs Munslow would like to say a great big thank you for all the cards and presents you gave us. We're look forward to getting fat, smelling nice and using candles and ornaments to decorate our houses! Thank you!

Mrs Stanton would like to say an extra thankyou for all the lovely farewell cards, letters and presents. Despite the tears it was a lovely day and I shall remember you all for a long time to come. I hope I will be able to pop in and see you all next term then you can all tell me what a wonderful time you are having.
Have a great Christmas.
Mrs Stanton.

Disco Fun

What were the moves????

Two of our dancers would be great on Strictly!
The disco was great fun but the photos came out very dark - sorry!

Square challenge

It might be Christmas but we are still working! We were trying to make a square using pentominoes. It was a lot trickier than it first looked.

We got the star jar full again! A brilliant class!

At last the world is complete!

Christmas activities

Very many thanks to all the parents who came to join the class on Tuesday. On Wednesday we might discuss the importance of accurate cutting!! We hope you enjoyed yourselves - I am sure the children enjoyed having you there. Thank you also to the two little ones who were so wonderfully well behaved.

Caerleon

Photos in no particular order!

Taking "wine" with Jocasta as she explained about how the Roman celebrated Saturnalia. We had to wear funny elf like hats, the girls had the points down the back and the boys had the points down the front. We learnt that some of our Christmas customs are the same as those celebrated at Saturnalia.

Exploring the remains of the barracks.

Trying out the soldiers bunks! Unfortunately we were not allowed on the top bunks.

Trying out the shields.

Trying on battle dress!

Looking at various Roman finds in the museum.

Admiring one of the mosaics in the museum.

Clay mosaics

This spectacular display is made up of all our clay mosaic tiles that we made. Thanks to Mrs Munslow who spent ages getting them all mounted straight.

Clay pots

Very many thanks to Courtney's Mum and Dad who both came in to help the class make clay pots. They are drying out and will be painted with Roman designs next week. Well done to the class for not getting clay everywhere and thank you to the girls who wiped loads of chairs!

More mosaics!

This time mosaics made with shapes that fit into a hexagon. Some children made very intricate patterns.

Roman pots

We are getting ready to try our hand at making Roman pots. We have some very ambitious designs! It will be interesting to see what they turn out like!

Friday, 21 November 2008

We all worked together to make two large mosaics. They look great! Ask your child to invite you in to see them.

More mosaics

We experimented to see what mosaics would look like if triangular shapes were used. We made some great patterns. Many children wanted more paper to take home - I think you can buy packs of different pattern paper in WH Smiths! Would love to see any the children produce.

Golden time

We got the star jar full again and some boys spent a lot of time using their imagination and building space ships.
